Turn 2 Senate Phase, First Prosecution
Prosecution due 1/2, Wednesday
Senate Phase
Calpurnius rises. “Fellow Senators. I am un-accustomed to being the centre of attention. However, I take my duties seriously. My own allegiance to Rome is unquestioned and I cannot allow any Senator who does not respect my beloved Republic with the same passion. I need put no case for the prosecution of Fabius. He knows his crime and indeed he admits to it. As fellow upholders of the law you have no option but to declare him guilty. The order is immaterial for you must all find him guilty but for procedural sake we will vote as follows: Coronus, Finlandia, Arborophilia, Caelestis Genus, 100%Loyalus” Calpurnius returns to his seat
Fabius rises. I am guilty of stretching the laws of Rome while savagely attacking our enemy, Carthage. While I did it for the best of Rome, I bow to the laws of Rome and humbly accept my prosecution as just.
Furius stands up:
My fellow Senators, in times of War there are situations which arise when Soldiers & Leaders are called upon to do the unthinkable to secure a victory. Although its no excuse, but how many times have we overlook such actions for the glory of Rome? I ask for leniency for Cunctator, that his name not be tarnished because of his actions or the actions of Legions under his command. For here we sit taking the advantage of Cunctator's successful victories against Carthage and there may be more situations in the coming Wars. I know we are more civilized, better than those barbarians out there, and for that reason I must vote for the conviction. The Republic of Rome must stand above all other civilizations, be a protector against those barbarians, and bring stability & order to our known world.
Vote Results:
Coronus: 8 votes to convict
Finlandia: 14 votes to convict
Arborophilia: 7 votes to convict
Caelestis Genus: 8 votes to convict
100%Loyalus: 8 votes to convict
Motion passes 45 to 0.
