Final Result

The players' identiies were as follows:  TTG was Lord de Worde, BBBB was Vetinari, PIKES was Chrysoprase, and TFF was Lord Rust.  None of the players managed to achieve their victory criteria, so we tally points.  Each minion on the board is worth 5 points, each building is face value, and money on hand (minus loans due) is worth face value.  Note that anything in an area with a Demon does not count, so the minions and buildings in The Hippo, The Shades, Isle of Gods, and Seven Sleepers do not count.

End of Game Statements

Kevin Wilson (PIKES): Well, I certainly didn’t expect to win.  It seems almost impossible to get to $50 for the win with Chrysoparse.  I kept hoping for the card to let me change personalities but didn’t get the chance.  Nor did I have any idea who was who.  I was pretty focused on just getting cash and possibly building to avoid having my cash taken from me.  I tried to avoid letting 8 trouble markers hit the board or to see anyone getting close to 4 areas controlled but I couldn’t tell you who was who.  I again expected Vimes to back into a win but he wasn’t active so that was good.  I guess Vetinari came close once or twice but perhaps just fell short of the # needed.

Congrats to Andy. Any win in this game that isn’t Vimes seems well deserved.

Thanks to Chris for running the game.  Easy enough to run probably but lot’s of card images to pass along so easy to adjudicate, hard to administer.

A question for the group.  It’s clearly in the rules that any demon cancels the value of a building at the end of the game if being decided by points.  Would a demon also negate the value of the building for Chrysoparse?  The rules say $50 in cash or value of buildings on the board based on cost.  Since the rules specifically refer to any loans reducing the building values but doesn’t mention demons I interpreted the rule as demons not affecting building value for purposes of getting to $50 for building and cash.  Is that a correct interpretation?

Bill Scharf (TFF):  Congrats to Andy on his win, and thanks to Chris for running it. The game matches the flavor of Pratchetts books so well. Plays fast and a game with some heft to it but not too much....hits the sweet spot for a lighter game. I’ve seen everyone win but the lords have a tough go with four players...it’s easier when there’s only three. And the troll is a tough win too...although I have seen it happen....once.

Christopher Hunt (BBBB):  Thanks to Chris for game mastering the game and helping me keep track of the rules.  I like this game a lot.  It is just too short.  Did not know the end game victory condions probably should have read the rules.

Andy York (TTG):  Surprising end to the game, don't think I've ever seen one end with the back-up rules for determining a victor (to be honest, didn't even remember they existed until I saw the end-game report). I quite enjoy this, especially now that I've started reading the Discworld books. Thanks to Chris for running herd on us!
