Congratulations to Chris on his resounding victory!

End of Game Statements

Christopher Hunt (Mos Eisly):  Congratulations to Chris H on his dramatic win and to Chris H for running the game.  I enjoy this game but lost track of my cards.

Chris Hibbert (Galactic Freedom League):  My first choice was between Alpha Centauri and Damaged Alien Factory for initial world. I liked the production from DAF, even though it would cost a discard each time. (I only failed to discard once.)  The rest of my starting cards were fairly boring.

My first explore draw gave me Pan Galactic Research, a 6 point development with pluses for Phases I, II, and V. That seemed worth stretching for. It also meant that I could hold up to 12 cards.

My second explore provided Galactic Exchange, with bonuses for Consume.
On Round 4, I got Diversified Economy, and my course was pretty well set.

From that point, I only chose Produce and Consume, since I had more production than anyone else. I had plenty of pluses for consume, so I always had plenty of cards.

That seems like a pretty lucky set of card draws. I've only played the game a handful of times F2F, so it's hard to gauge just how lucky it was. I suspect my next few games will be significantly more pedestrian. It helped some that the other players all seemed to be going for military, but given my cards that may not have mattered so much.

Thanks for the game, and thanks for bearing with my mistakes Chris!

Kevin Wilson (Eridani Edict):  Well, it was fairly clear early on that it was an uphill slug to catch Chris. He got off to such a great start that the play thereafter was mostly just watching him go!  Even the few points I did get only came mainly in the final 2 or 3 turns so I was never much of a threat to mount any charge. I’m still struggling a bit with the iconography of the game, having to repeatedly look up meanings but a few pieces did come together in my learning process this time.  Each game is a progression I guess.  I need to put more effort in looking at combos and thinking them through in this game (and other tableau building games too) to continue to improve.

Thanks to Chris for running the game, to the others for their patience at times while I did homework (or RL work) and congrats to the other Chris on an impressive win.

Bill Scharf (Slow Hampsters):  Thanks Chris H for running the game and congratulations Chris H….damn that’s not going to work this time. Congratulations Chris Hibbert for his win. A big produce/consume engine is hard to beat…keep adding to it as others pick settle and develop and you’re golden. As always, the game was a blast to play, thanks everybody!
