Senate Phase

Finlandia votes NAY on Furius for Censor.

Manlius rises:

"Why does the current leader of Rome insist on concentrating power to such a degree? Has not Finlandia been eager to share power evenly when we held the reins of power? Why does Caelestis Genus nominate as Censor someone who already wields considerable influence in the Senate? And to add insult to injury, Caelestis Genus also adds even more influence to Furius by naming him a priest for his victory over the Illyrians, so Caelestis Genus says. Fabius's wife could have led the Romans to victory over the Illyrians so Furius is hardly deserving of any additional honors than the office of Consul already bestowed upon him.

Power is best distributed but we see a strong undercurrent of rapacious greed overtaking the Senators of Caelestis Genus. Let us hope that I am mistaken in that observation."

Furis stands up:

"I suppose your idea of the next Censor would be that uncouth Senator Aelius?!? The arrangement with Finlandia was to let one of your Senators prosecute Senator Valerius but I believe the information I read was "do whatever you need to do to find something to stick on him." Now you want Consul Aurelius to nominate this same Senator who went crawling around, peeking in windows during late nights just to uncover Senator Valerius had a sex scandal with his sectary? It was suppose to be "non-damaging", allow Valerius to keep his dignity, but Aelius took it higher. He was out for blood, ruin the man's marriage, soil his public name, and take his 'Consulship' held for himself. Nay Manlius, I would not vote for such a Senator for the Censor Office. Your other comment, if your referring to my Wife's baking skills, all the bake goods she had sent while I was away, both myself and the men who ate the goods will second any notion of giving her The Honorary Baker award during the Illyrian Conflict. Your last statement is less forgiving! Is all the rest of Finlandia a bunch of uncouth boys. When the leader is away, the boys will play? Hardly holding a Consul Office, fighting in a minor conflict, and being nominated for Censor Office makes me a Megalomaniac. Had I know before hand that you were an aspiring Clergy man, I would have told the Pontifex Maximus himself to give you a Priesthood in my place. Your always welcome to talk to Caelestis Genus about your concerns, because your jealousy is unbecoming of you."

"I cast all the Caelestis Genus's votes in favor for... Proposal of next Censor."

Arborophilia finds all this turmoil and bickering unseemly. The family retires to the baths and sends a note to the senate to "vote for whoever, whatever, wherever was nominated".

Claudius looks over the to bench where the Tribunes of the Plebs sit and makes an odd motion with his right arm. One of the Tribunes rises and announces "I veto the nomination".

Aureslius nominates Calpurnius as Censor. Voting order is Finlandia, Arborophilia, Coronus, Caelestus Genus, and 100%Loyalus.
