Senate Phase

Fabius rises.

"Thank you for your faith in me. I am a man of few words. My tenure will see Carthage demolished if all goes well. Accompanying me on this war will be my long time friend and companion, my new Master of Horse, Julius of Arborophilia.

First the nomination for our high priest, the Pontifex Maximus. I have consulted our current priesthood to determine which senator they honor and respect. Without exception they mentioned Quinctius. Therefore, I nominate him as our next PM. Voting order is: Finlandia (9 votes yes), Arborophilia, 100% Loyalus, Coronus, Caelestis Genus.

And a quick aside, I am a man of the military and thus not used to the flowerly speeches our Consuls usually engage in. I apologize that my oratories are not as good as one would expect from a leader. But I do offer a quick and speedy senate session. Thus, as this vote for PM proceeds, I will provide an insight into my future proposals so we can start debating them as soon as possible.

I will be:

1. Nominating noble Valerius for Censor

2. Proposing raising 12 fleets

3. Proposing raising 7 legions

4. Proposing I use all fleets and legions to comobat the naval and land battles of the 1st Punic War

But for the moment, please concentrate on voting for PM first.

Finlandia votes yes.

Arborophilia votes yes.

100%Loyalus votes yes.

Caelestis Genus votes yes

Quinctius addresses the Senate,

Thank you my fellow Senators for your support in my Family to guide our Republic in the Spiritual ways of the Gods. As my father passed his Priestly duties to me, as did my father's father to him, I am ready to be Mars's right arm for Rome. On my appointment as your Pontifex Maximus, I will sacrifice a red bull to Mars to divine his approval to crush the Carthagians for their move against us. Our new Priesthood needs dedicated Senators to help guide Roman citizens in the ways of Mars. For my first nomination is our Charismatic and newly elected Field Consul...Calpurnius of 100% Loyalus. His Family has long been a dedicated follower of Mars and will faithfully help guide the Roman Citizens. I will address the Senate again after the New Moon's sacrifice.

Fabius then nominates Valerius as Censor. As the only eligible candidate, Valerius is approved by acclamation. Valerius declines to prosecute any Senators.

Fabius finally proposes to raise 12 fleets, 7 legions, and to send all available fleets and legions with him to fight the Carthaginians. Voting order is Coronus, 100% Loyalus, Arborophilia, Caelestis Genus, Finlandia.
