Congratulation to Chris Hibbert on his resounding victory!
Bill Scharf:
The bird cards really funneled my game this time. Lots and lots of
tucking, I’ve never seen so many low value birds in my life, and
tucking them seemed a lot more appropriate than hunting down food and
playing them for 0 to 2 points…yeah, not a lot of options for me. Hmm,
it wasn’t until I typed this that I realized how close t and f were on
the keyboard…
Chris Hibbert:
One of my initial choices was Killdeer, which I wasn't going to take at
first, but I looked at a couple sites on-line to get recommendations on
the other birds. One page pointed out that Killdeer is super-helpful
because you can get eggs and bird cards with a single turn. From then
on, I had plenty of cards, and I just had to figure out what birds
worked best together. I was surprised at drawing so many bonus cards,
but I was eventually able to fulfill them all. It was really nice when
I could find birds that satisfied more than one criteria.
The Killdeer was already driving me to focus on eggs, so the round 2
bonus was a natural, and the easy access to eggs and birds meant the
round 3 bonus was aimed at me as well.
All the bonus cards and round End bonuses meant that I didn't have a
whole lot of actions on taking food or laying eggs, but that worked out
fine.
Thanks for running the game, Chris!
Chris Geggus:
A great win for Chris H. When I saw his board I thought we're playing
for second place here and so it proved. Pleased with my performance,
but couldn't get my birds out easily on the last few turns, so fell a
few points short of target. Still not enough to win however. Good
combos always work well in this game. Thanks also to the other Chris H.
Dave Anderson:
Congrats to Chris Hibbert on his fine win. I had too many birds with a
high food cost to play for my bonus cards. Bonus cards are helpful in
winning a game. It was nice to see a tucked game being tried too. Next
time I am definitely voting for Oceania and seeking what it brings to
the table. Count me signed up for it.
