End of Game Statements
Andy York (Interplanetary Cinematics): Playing
a new game for the first time is always challenging, and I certainly
made some mistakes (like the early "Production" card when I mixed the
name up, intending "Development"). The endgame also snuck up on me,
thankfully a "Construction" phase was ordered along with my
"Development" allowing me to gain 6 VPs between the two.
That said, it was a very close game
all around. Congrats to Christopher for topping the board. Sincere
appreciation to Chris H for helming our collaborative first foray into
the game (and catching our misunderstandings).
I'll certainly play if offered again.
Bill Scharf (Thorgate): I have to admit I had a few issues keeping this game separate from the regular terraforming mars game I’m in. Like I have plenty of steel…actually no, in that game I don’t have any steel at all. The similarities were a bit too similar for my current Modus operandi. I had a five point action phase coming up this turn, which would have improved my standings but I’ll chalk the game up as a learning experience, which, of course, applies to us all. Look forward to playing it again.
Christopher Hunt (Launch Star, Inc.):
Thanks very mush to Chris H for enabling me to read the cards and for
correcting my wrong card plays. Very enjoyable, not just because
I won. Thought the heat and plants would go when it raised the
temperature / oxygen as in the original. It did not so I had to win
using TR as my accumulated resources were nonexistent. I had
spent too much on TR growth to buy expensive cards. At the
beginning I thought it would be much longer as in the first few moves
no oceans no temperature or oxygen changes. Wow did it
accelerate. Stared with 1 steel and 1 titanium but until the last
turn never saw another of these cards again. Got a good card and pushed it for all it was worth.
Kevin Wilson (Mining Guild):
Well, I guess all first plays are learning experiences. For
instance I forgot the game ends after the phase the various parameters
are maxed out not at the end of the turn/generation. Not that it
would have made any difference but I did have a few more VP to come
with an action phase. But, I probably would have pushed the temp
and O2 to the limit anyway. Unlike Christopher I just didn’t get
any good/playable VP cards so needed to run out the time for others to
catch up or run away with it. With the Aquifer Pumping I could
run up the TR through oceans but not a lot else. Regardless, I
enjoyed the first play and look forward to the next. Congrats to
Christopher on the inaugural win and thanks to Chris for running the
game. Let's go again.

From a GM's perspective, this was a fun game to run. Watching all
of the strategies develop, whether intended or not, was fascinating to
me. The pace of the game was also extraordinarily fast -- very
much in line with my face to face play experiences. There were a
few hiccups given that this was a new game, but overall I thought it
went very well. I will definitely be running this one again.
