Congratulations to Andy York on his victory!

End of Game Statements

Dave Hooton (RMHL):  Andy chose a superior strategy, getting three surveyors while Bill and I were limited to two. This was a big advantage, helping him to get to all five markets as well as accumulating huge passenger revenue. Well done, Andy, and thanks to Chris for running it.

Bill Scharf (EPRG):  I really enjoy this game. It recreates the uncertainty of mining to a degree I haven’t found in most other games. There’s no guarantee that a mine with good prospects (depletion on a two die roll) will last long. I remember a game where a two depletion number was rolled the second time I operated it, ouch!

The game usually comes down to the Denver starters, if they battle to a draw and get in each other’s way the game could be won by anyone. A Pueblo player makes that area uncomfortably crowded, Salt Lake City and El Paso can do well if they get a good set of claims early and are lucky with die rolls. I’ve only played a few games with a Santa Fe player, they usually get to Denver and pueblo, they really need the larger markets to compete. I was surprised blue didn’t finish out the passenger bonanza once he was hooked to salt lake and El Paso, and I was cut off from salt lake and the other Denver player was cut off from El Paso, but he won handily anyway. Congratulations to Andy on his win, and thanks Chris for running it, I really enjoy playing this game, and very surprised it’s not more popular.

Andy York (NTSB):  A fun game, thanks all (and to Chris fir letting us play!). I took an early gamble by running to SLC and skipping the easier passenger routes to the south. But, it worked out even with some key disputes being lost and snowplows not doing their jobs well the last two winters.
