Not being in the running for any of the milestone or most of the awards hurt me.
Chris Geggus (Ecoline): Well done Bil, an outstanding win indeed. I could see that I was doing okay on the table, but I was also aware that my cards were doing very little as proved by the final point difference on cards alone between myself and virtually everyone else. Pretty empty map for a change which probably hurts me more when I should be churning out forests all over the world. Just didn't pick up enough plant cards. Thanks to all and particularly Chris H.
Bill Scharf (Aridor): I kept my eye on the awards and milestones, and built a good engine, but the major reason I won this game was one I can never duplicate, science cards. I had nine icons by game end, which is a record for me. I didn’t even play all of the ones I received, and I kept drawing them all game long. A surprising number of them have nice victory point payoffs. I wasn’t all that aware of the payoffs before, because you might see four or five of them during a game, but there were times I had that many in my hand, and they kept showing up! I got lucky. Thanks, as usual, for running the games, I don’t know how you do it.

I got off to a decent start and did try to focus on Milestones and
Awards but the MS got grabbed quickly and I came up just 1M€ shy of the
award I was watching. Wouldn’t have mattered so oh well. I wasn’t
getting too much to help with filling the board but then, no one
was. Still, overall fun as always.
