7 Wonders -- Wonder Pack, Leaders, Cities, Armada

Notes

Your Armada board will be to the right of your regular player board, and any islands you have will be to the right of or below the Armada board.  When you play a card or build a stage of your wonder, if you have the available resources, I will automatically have you advance in the appropriate shipping track.  If you can get the resource from one of your neighbors, you will have to specify that in your orders.  Just for clarity sake, I will be referring to the four shipping lanes as follows:  Red:  Military, Yellow: Commercial; Blue: Civic; Green: Exploration.

Congratulations to Bill on his victory!

End of Game Statements

Christopher Hunt (Helicarnassos):  A good game as ever.  Thanks to Chris for keeping updated running the game and keeping me updated with the discarded cards.  Congratulations to Bill on his success.  Can't remember when a civics based city won. Spent too much on military but it gave me a third of my points.

Bill Scharf (Alexandria):  A good game that works well in the zine, thanks for running it. The blue cards were a focus, because I had a leader that made them easier to get; they provided almost a third of my total points. A couple of opportune guilds and a lot of money helped. Secret warehouse gave me a boost, providing a variety of goods when I needed them. I enjoyed the game with you guys, lots of fun and some nail chewing too!

Chris Geggus (Byzantium):  I finally managed to disprove that sciences always win. Only realised too late that my leader choice was wrong as I began to run out of money too soon and I had scrapped a leader who paid me cash for each ladder advance. I had thought I wouldn't need it. Oh well. Congrats to Bill (Bull) who played a tight game from what I could see. Thanks to everyone else and Chris for his excellent GM'ing as usual.

Dave Hooton (Rome):  The leaders I had gave me a head-start into Science, but unfortunately, most of the actual science cards came out on the other side of the table. With the science cards split, the winner was the only person who did not have any science cards. Congratulations to Bill on the win, and thanks to Chris for running the game.

Kevin Wilson (Manneken Pis):  Finally a little time to think about the game. First, despite my repeated poor showings I’m liking the game more each time I play. I think it just takes some repeats to get a better feel so I’ll keep trying.  First, I don’t think Mannekin Pis was as powerful as I expected. The extra starting gold was helpful but my two neighbors didn’t have a lot otherwise to gain with the wonder.  After the first level (first age) it was only VP.  And I think I let the extra cash lead me to not pay enough attention to what my neighbors might need and to provide that for them to buy. As a result, there were a couple of times I had to make the gain gold play rather than something more productive.

Early I had a couple of sciences come my way so I thought I might be able to get a few of those but few made it to me later in the game or, if they did, they came at a point where I had to look to something else (usually gold) as the play.  Such I guess is the luck of the draw at time.

Still, fun to try to make up the shortfalls of my wonder. Congrats to Bill on a convincing win. Thanks to Chris and the others for running and playing the game. Let’s go again soon.
