Bill Scharf:  H’mm, well, I’d do a number of things differently. I definitely need to keep better track of my cards and card purchases....and I also need to look further ahead. Rather than spotting opportunities on the board and spending a couple of turns bringing them about, I need to identify opportunities two or three turns ahead and make the plays so I’m ready to go when they occur....proactive rather than reactive. It’s a good game, looking forward to playing it again, thanks for running it Chris...

Kevin Wilson:  Well, about what I expected for a first try at the game.  I spent too much time thinking about sequencing the cards and not enough time watching the map and more importantly, not enough time watching the VP count.  By the time I felt comfortable (somewhat) with the card sequencing and turned to the VP it was catch up time and time just ran out.  I almost rolled my deck 2 cycles ago to open the Mercator and Architect to add houses quickly (selling some cloth) but got greedy looking for one more bolt!  I just didn’t think it would close that quickly.

The game reminded me a bit of Terra Mystica, lots of choice, a need to string together plays to build the machine and income but with a need to watch the VP count.  TM is a bit easier to follow in that the VP count is updated on the board.  For Concordia I need to do a better, and more consistent, job of tracking as we go.  The biggest difference, at least for me, was the VP tracking wasn’t as intuitive.  The cards can change the counts quickly so not only must one anticipate where an opponent may go and what card he will play but when and what cards will be purchased to affect actions and the VP count.

While I wasn’t pleased trailing as far as I did I feel much more aware of the game and the need to always keep an eye to the end game.  A first play isn’t a good indication of what kind of game it is but learning is key and I’m quite sure there is a gem in there that another play or two will see the light bulb go off and the competition that much tighter.  Count me in for the next.

Dave Hooton:  Although I've been playing this game for the past several years, this I believe that this is only the second time I've won, with the first time being on an expansion map. This game was unusual in that most of the Minerva cards came out early. I was able to get two of them with my first Senator card and build a strategy around them.
