End of Game Statements

Dave Hooton:  Congratulations to Christopher for winning, He took the lead early with the most successful pirate ship and was the first to buy a province. Also, thanks again to Chris H for running the game.

I've only played this game a couple of times before, and it was several years ago. The only deck-building game I've played regularly is the DC Comics Deck Building Game, perhaps the only item in the DC franchise which is superior to its Marvel equivalent. The players in the DC game are more flexible, being able to make as many purchases and buys as they can muster.

Christopher Hunt:  I thought I was on a loser when all the other players with their initial 3 coppers brought a silver and not a fishing village.

I was not until Chris brought an island with the workshop that I realised what I was missing.

My aim was to get 5 and start a merchant stream but by happenchance I got to eight and brought a province and after that it was a race to buy lands.

Lucky in that virtually every time I had an island I had a victory card to place there

At the end it was very much a boom or bust set of cards I had; in that I would be able to buy a province or just an estate. The workshops keep me above water by allowing me to get islands (without which I would not have won as they weeded out the victory cards from my deck). I do remember playing a game at one of the London South meets and being told that Islands buying was a failure.

Many thanks to Chris H for understanding my ill written plays.

Chris Geggus: Well played Christopher. Started off well and kept the pressure on. The cards were disappointingly similar, so led us all down the same route which made for a staid game in my opinion. I think if that had been a live game someone would probably have suggested changing a couple of the card stacks for something a little more different. More additional actions and buys would have made for more variety. However, that's sometimes how the game pans out. Thanks to Chris - as efficient as ever.

Bill Scharf: It was a good run through of the dominion system via email, which worked well. Congrats to Christopher for his win, I’m looking forward to the next one!

Chris Hassler:
In retrospect, I think I should have swapped out some of the cards with different ones to give things more variety, like Chris G. suggested.  I will reserve the right to do that in future games.
