ARidor wins. Congratulations to Chris Geggus on his victory!
Christopher Hunt (Mining Guild):
Well done to Chris on his clear victory. Thanks to Chris H for
his running the game. No synergy, no awards, no victory.
Kevin Wilson (Credicor):
Well, I’m actually surprised I wasn’t last. I just kept failing to find
a path to a milestone or an award and those were critical. A couple of
times I thought of pressing through to the planner milestone, and I
guess I should have, but didn’t. Seemed to take a while to get them all
claimed so maybe I fooled myself thinking I’d get another chance.
Congrats to Gegs on a nice win, thanks to Chris for running the game as
always and thanks too to the other players for the game. It was fun
getting back to the basics. Certainly did seem to take a little longer
to get the global parameters moving but once again, once they did get
going, they went quickly. A salute to a couple of good engines built.
Bill Scharf (Phoblog):
Thanks Chris for running the game, and congratulations to Chris for
winning it. Focused more than I usually do on milestones and awards,
which worked out well, but my initial card keep was horrible, I’ve
clearly become a bit more dependent on the expansions for the resources
they provide than I thought…never did play some of the original cards I
kept… still, it was a good refresher and a great game, thanks everybody.
Chris Geggus (Saturn Systems):
Thoroughly enjoyed the back to basics and would be happy to try it
again in due course. I got scared when the Milestones were snaffled,
but suddenly noticed that the Awards gave me a shout and 9 points from
those gave me the game it seems. As Bill said, the simple things become
harder without all the bells and whistles, and I certainly felt that
things weren't always going right. But I guess we all struggled
similarly. We've been too spoilt in the past I reckon. Thanks to Chris
once again.
Andy York (Helion):
Darned good game with most folks being close in scoring. This
"back-to-basics" game certainly had me rethinking some of my strategies
and approaches. I'm a bit surprised that the game ended in about the
same "Generation" as many other games we've played. I had expected it
to go longer as there would be fewer cards chosen as you were stuck (or
blessed) with the luck of the draw. But, I guess focusing resources on
just the core game balanced out the resources spent in non-core actions
added in the expansions. A thoroughly enjoyable game to play in, and
I'm up to mixing this in every so often for a change of pace.
Congrats to Chris G on stepping a bit ahead of the rest of us. And, a
tip of the hat to Chris H. for welcoming and running this change of
pace.
