Congratulation to Dave Anderson on his resounding victory!

End of Game Statements

Bill Scharf:  A fun game as always, thanks for running it Chris, and congrats to Dave on his narrow win!

Chris Geggus:  Great win for Dave with 29 points from bonus cards! I had 3 bonus cards and couldn't manage 1 point from any of them. Not one of my best games. I still struggle with this game (as much as I enjoy it) and always forget (or ignore) the slow reduction in actions during the game. I get all excited grabbing more cards etc., not realising that I will never have time to get them out or do the other 20 jobs I'm trying to perform. Very much a case of less is good. And thanks to Chris H. again.

Dave Anderson:  I cannot take all the credit. My wife loves this game. We have it on our computer through Steam. I did the initial draw and she laser focused on the bonus cards. We knew through playing on the computer game that the European Game is slower in terms of getting birds down. No nectar etc. The swift was part of anatomist, up comes the swift. And we just plain got lucky that the bonus cards fell as they did. We expected a real battle with Chris G. as he had 3 of them and a possible forth with the Cerulean warbler out there. We knew that Keith was going to just crush us on the end of round with his star bird collection. Thanks to Chris Hassler for another GMing game for us and sign me up for another as Debbie will tagging along giving her usual excellent advice.

Keith Marple:  Great win Dave (and Debbie)!  Never seen anyone exploit bonus cards to such an extent before, and it was very instructive that you were able to average nearly 5 VP / bonus card, I’ll start valuing them more highly in future games.  Love seeing a new strategy unlocked, fascinating game.  Thanks all for playing, and Chris for running such a smooth format and fun game!

Chris Hibbert:  I enjoyed the game, but I never found my stride. From the cards I had, I thought my best chance was focusing on the round bonuses, and I didn't even manage to pull that off as cleanly as I hoped. I made a few mistakes in tracking which birds could be played where, but that would only have made 5 or 10 points difference anyway.

Congratulations to Dave. 6 bonus cards for 29 points is quite impressive. I'm impressed that while pulling that off, he pretty much tied the rest of us in all the other categories, so it didn't cost him anything to get those bonuses.

Thanks for running the game, Chris. You did a great job as always.
